John Leech Gallery presents ‘Carey’s Bay 2000’, a series of portrait paintings by Martin Ball of Ralph Hotere; New Zealand’s most important living artist. This powerful exhibition, named after the small coastal town 10 minutes drive out of Dunedin where Hotere lives, provides a dynamic record of Ball’s encounter with the artist at Carey’s Bay, in 2000. The Nike+ Challenge Men vs. Women is all about beating the other gender on the running track. We took this spirit to the Web by connecting a Nike+ banner on a website for women with one on a website for men. Thus, we created a direct communication channel, that gave the adversarial sexes a chance to talk things out or just verbally beat the crap out of each other.

Marimekko Corporation is a leading Finnish textile and clothing design company that was established in 1951. The company designs, manufactures and markets high-quality clothing, interior decoration textiles, bags and other accessories under the Marimekko brand, both in Finland and abroad.

Bella Designs in New Zealand makes funky retro interior designs from fabrics by Marimekko. Life Style Art, also from New Zealand, specialises in making decorative art using resin infused Marimekko fabric.

The Capitol Cinema on Dominion Road in Auckland has been restored to its former glory and re-opened!

From Flicks.co.nz: The Capitol originally opened in 1922 and was one of Auckland's most luxurious cinemas. We can tell you this is again the case, with the team from the Lido Cinema on Manukau Road behind its refurbishment. The Capitol's art-deco style has been preserved, while the theatre has being fitted out with new equipment and larger seating (more pictures coming soon).
